This is the hidden Lanzarote, the Lanzarote that nobody tells you about.. Like an olivine on the beach of El Golfo, Uga is a small green jewel in the lava landscape. Away from the ubiquitous sunscreen and sand centres, we had a uniquely different view of the island and people of Lanzarote. Alfonso is a fabulous host, thoughtfully responding to our every need with maps, advice and books from his own library, as we walked and motored around the island. Occasionally, there appeared at our door artfully presented morsels of local food: goat's cheese, gofio and delicate sweet potato pasties we had been asking about. The accommodation is comfortable, the kitchen well supplied with basic utensils and the sunken garden offers both breezy and sheltered sunbathing! [menos]
