….or like us you might not readily find this rustic gem less than an hour from Barcelona. We had a particularly enjoyable 5 nights staying with Agustina & Josep in a very comfortable, quiet and spotlessly clean room in their Masia. They had gone to considerable effort to convert this traditional Masia in to a comfortable country inn, with finishing touches even so far as monogrammed bed heads, pillows & napkins. The Masia was pretty self-sufficient as they kept their own hens, ducks, geese & goats. Some vegetables came from their own garden, and others such as the wild mushrooms came from foraging in the adjacent countryside. Water even came from an underground cistern filled by the rain.... We were hiking in the nearby Montseny & Montnegre Mountains for 5-7 hours each day which was just about enough to burn off Augustina’s copious and varied breakfasts and dinners. The excellent home cuisine and local wine were a treat…and we still remember well the roast goose, stuffed peppers, wild mushrooms, home made jams & sausages etc, etc….. Agustina & Josep were perfect hosts and went out of their way to show us all of their many culinary interests and made sure we enjoyed our stay. This welcoming rural retreat can only be highly recommended; it gives a great insight into the delights and hard work of country life and is a credit to its owners!
